About this event

Join us on the evening of June 27th for our summer social to celebrate the roll-out of WIA’s new logo and branding, reconnect with each other, and relax on a sunny rooftop patio!

To wrap up this year’s theme of Inclusive Design we will have keynote speaker Lisa Rupert, VP of Housing Services and Violence Prevention at the YWCA. The YWCA helps women and their families build better futures by providing housing and services for women in need throughout Metro Vancouver. Learn about the impact that safe, affordable housing can have on a person’s life, and how it can be achieved.

With over 24 years of front-line experience working in housing and violence prevention, Lisa Rupert has made a significant impact on the lives of women and families across Metro Vancouver. Currently, she is the Vice President of Housing Services and Violence Prevention at YWCA Metro Vancouver where she oversees six housing communities for low-income single mothers and their children, Crabtree Corner specialized housing for pregnant or parenting women who are overcoming substance use issues, 2 second stage transition houses for women who have experienced violence from an intimate partner and their children, the YWCA’s PEACE Program and Legal Education Program, the Seeds of Independence Program and the Homeless Prevention Program.

Throughout her career, Lisa has worked on projects that have influenced policies to support women leaving abuse. Through a collaborative approach and ongoing advocacy for the clients she serves, Lisa has created and implemented programs, facilitated workshops, been an active media spokesperson and a dedicated volunteer on housing and violence prevention services across Metro Vancouver. She is a currently the Chair of the Board of Directors of the BC Society of Transition Houses.
